Listeria Fact Sheet – What to Do

Salmonella — PREVENTION —- WASH Your Hands …

Salmonella!

BEST THING To Do —-   WASH — YOUR — HANDS!!!!

It’s been the biggest culprit of food contamination and food poisoning cases recently, so I just wanted to put up some Awareness Reminders  and Prevention Helpers to help Avoid Salmonella Poisoning.

Here goes:

Salmonella is simply a group of bacteria that wreaks havoc within our bodies – Specifically GASTROINTESTINAL SYSTEM.  The Symptoms usually occur within 1-2 days after infection which include:

  • Fever (in 50% of patients),
  • Nausea and Vomiting,
  • Diarrhea, and
  • Abdominal Cramps and
  • Abdominal Pain.
  • (The diarrhea rarely contains mucus or blood, usually lasts for about 4 days, and is usually very liquid. The illness usually ends in about 5-7 days).

It is found in:

Sources

         -

-

     -    -

 –

Animals and their environments are also potential sources of infection.

    Animals and their environment:

  • Particularly Reptiles (snakes, turtles, lizards),
  • Amphibians (frogs),
  • Birds (baby chicks) and
  • Pet food and
  • Pet treats.

Once again – the best thing to do is to Wash Your Hands Before, After, and In-Between touching and mixing these food sources.

PASS on Those Peanuts … Salmonella Contamination

Ok Everyone,

It seems like every company that produces, distributes, or has a product with peanuts is now recalling them.

Reason – Sunland Inc, (peanut supplier) had a massive Salmonella Contamination and still distributed the peanuts.

Some products are being recalled all the way back to 2010!

Just Pass on those Peanut Products Until the coast is clear …

Every day more companies are adding products to the Recall List, so … just steer clear of peanut containing products for a while until all these companies have finished their Recalls. (Just giving some friendly advice here for health & safety concerns …)

  • General Mills today announced a voluntary recall of a limited number of Cascadian Farm Granola Bars containing peanuts.
  • Toft’s has issued a voluntary recall on 48 oz cartons and 3 gallon tubs of Buckeye Bites Ice Cream
  • Dean Foods Company of California processing facility in Buena Park, Calif. recall two ice cream varieties manufactured for Albertsons supermarkets
  • Meadow Gold Dairy processing facility in Orem, Utah recall two ice cream varieties manufactured for Albertsons supermarkets

The list will continue to grow – but … it just seems ridiculous to keep adding a post for every New Recall.  Just Pass on Peanuts!
