Just so you guys know that the government actually funds the Grants that have been listed – here’s a short list.  And, if you notice, these are all Universities.  Grants take work so don’t let anyone pull the wool over your eyes.  Research what’s needed to qualify for the grant and then start the process.

 Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program

 Eligible U.S.undergraduates can apply to receive financial support for study abroad programs worldwide through the U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program. Established under the International Academic Opportunity Act of 2000, Gilman scholarships provide up to $5,000 for American students to pursue overseas study for college credit. Students studying critical need languages are eligible for up to $3,000 in additional funding as part of the Critical Need Language Supplement program.

The Gilman Scholarship Program aims to broaden and increase the study abroad population by aiding undergraduate students who have high financial need. TheInstituteofInternational Education, a New York-based non-profit organization, currently administers the program through its Southern Regional Office inHouston,Texas, under a grant from the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. The program is named after retired New York Congressman Benjamin A. Gilman, the legislation’s sponsor.

 Jack Kent Cooke Foundation

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation is a private, independent foundation established by Jack Kent Cooke to help exceptionally promising students reach their full potential through education. Launched in 2000, the Foundation focuses in particular on students with financial need.

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship makes it possible for the nation’s top community college students to complete their bachelor’s degrees by transferring to a four-year college or university. The Foundation provides up to $30,000 per year to each of approximately 50 deserving students selected annually, making it the largest private scholarship for two-year and community college transfer students in the country.

Each award is intended to cover a significant share of the student’s educational expenses – including tuition, living expenses, books and required fees – for the final two to three years necessary to achieve a bachelor’s degree. Awards vary by individual, based on the cost of tuition as well as other grants or scholarships he or she may receive.

To be eligible for the program, students must be nominated by the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Faculty Representative at their two-year institution. Students cannot apply directly to the Foundation. Each two-year college may nominate up to four students (depending upon institution enrollment) each year to be considered for the scholarship.
