What Does It Take To Be A Fashion Model?
Female
Female models are usually between 15 and 22 years old, though they are usually towards the younger age groups.
Another thing to consider is that careers only last for limited periods of time. For example: you won’t have a career as long as doctors, teachers, or technicians. This is why agencies tend to look for and invest their time in someone young. The following features are the general norm for female models since this type of frame looks good on the runway (and in front of the camera)
Female Features:
- Tall ( height is usually about 5’8″)
- Long-legged, and
- Lean (108-125 lbs).
There are always exceptions to the rule, of course – but, in general, your chances are better when you are closer to the industry norm.
Male Fashion Model?
- Between 18 and 25 years old,
- Height of 5’11″- 6’2″ and a
- Fit (140-165 lbs)
- Clear Skin,
- Excellent teeth (good dental work),
A man’s modeling career usually lasts longer than a woman’s, and tends to be less competitive as well.
There is a little bit of freelancing in the business, but most models work with an agent.
Your agent is responsible for getting bookings and arranging your deals. The Best Agents will also advise you about clothes and hair, and generally guide you through the various stages of your career. The reason is that the more work they get you, the more money they make.
